Summer

This summer I was lucky to be able to come home and play with babies and nephews, go swimming, play in the lake, and quilt with my mom. We welcomed baby Hudson into the family a few weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure he never gets put down.  I love being able to see my nephews and niece every day, and not just for a week or two out of the year.  It's going to be hard to move!

I've also been quilting, and trying to perfect my applique technique.  I was at the fabric store with my mom when I saw a monkey fabric that I loved.  The polka dots were on the next shelf over, but I just loved the blue and green together.  After the fabric lady told me they didn't go together I was determined to make it cute.  It's a busy quilt, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. I figured out this pattern and practiced my applique on the back with the monkey.  It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but it definitely isn't perfect! I'm excited to get the two sides put together and quilted!

  1. There is no right or wrong way to make a quilt. The busier, the better, I say! Keep sewing.

  2. I love your quilt! You should take a photo of the finished project into the fabric store. The sales lady would have to eat her words, because they look great together!
